Danilo to be ‘unique’

New Real Madrid signing Danilo says he does not aspire to be like any other player and wants to focus on being ‘unique’.

The 23-year-old arrives at Santiago Bernabeu from Porto and this afternoon was presented to the media as a Blancos player for the first time.

“For all Brazilian full-backs, Cafu is a reference. He is one of my idols,” Danilo began to reporters.

“But I don’t like to compare myself to anyone because I have my own special and unique characteristics.

“I want to be the future Danilo at Real Madrid. I don’t want comparisons with other players. I work hard to be unique.”

The right-back also believes the competition he is set to face for a place in Rafa Benitez’s starting line-up, from Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Arbeloa, is a positive.

“This shows that the club wants to win. They are very able players and internationals. The winner is the club because it has a lot of quality players in this position.

“I like to work hard. For me it is easy to do what the Coach asks, whether that be offensive or defensive. I’m not going to have any problems.”

Finally, Danilo refused to be drawn on Iker Casillas’ seemingly imminent move to his former club.

“I think that it is still not official news. I don’t have a lot to say. I don’t need to advise Casillas. He is a player to who I don’t have to say anything.

“He knows the decisions he has to make and I don’t need to give him advice.”
