Laporta: Barca don’t build bridges

Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has accused the club of failing to build bridges with UEFA or FIFA.

It was announced this morning that European football’s governing body have begun investigating Blaugrana fans who displayed pro-Catalan independence flags at the club’s recent Champions League final against Juventus.

“This hasn’t been well managed by the board from the beginning,” Laporta said on the subject while outlining his plans to regain office at Camp Nou.

“They have broken bridges with UEFA and FIFA and that has meant we cannot sign players. If you don’t have the will to build bridges with the governing bodies, things like this happen.

“We will need to work on it, and to those people who took the Estelada (Catalan independence flag) to Berlin, I would say vote for me if you want to continue taking them.

“If I am President, I will make them (UEFA) understand that the flags display social sentiment and do not violate the rules of UEFA.”
