UEFA investigating Barca flags

UEFA have opened an investigation into Barcelona fans who displayed pro-Catalan independence flags at the recent Champions League final.

European football’s governing body have strict measures in place when dealing with clubs whose fans display banners or flags of a racist, xenophobic or political nature.

According to a report in Mundo Deportivo, Barca could be fined a fee of up to €60,000 if found guilty. They could also face a partial stadium closure for their first Champions League group match next season.

The ‘Estelada’ is an unofficial flag usually flown by Catalan separatists to show their support for an independent Catalonia from Spain.
