Danilo: You have to be the best

New Real Madrid signing Danilo understands the pressures of playing for the club, as it is ‘the biggest in the world.’

The Brazilian right-back officially joins Los Blancos today from Porto and gave an interview to Marca upon his arrival at Santiago Bernabeu.

“I was always a Real fan,” the 23-year-old told the Spanish outlet. “Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world, of another dimension.”

Danilo also revealed he had held talks with Coach Rafa Benitez, which have left him in optimistic mood moving forward.

“I’ve spoken with Benitez on the phone. I told him how my recovery was going, we spoke a bit about the new challenge.

“It wasn’t much, but it showed me he was concerned about me and that made me very happy.

“Any player should feel very proud of his work if Real Madrid come calling, the biggest club in the world, of another dimension.

“To play for Madrid you have to be the best. And that has always been my dream.”

Finally, Danilo expressed his confidence that he has recovered from his recent injury lay-off.

“I have more or less recovered, I hope to train from the first day. It won’t be in the first game but I will show the player I am.”
