It is reported that Atletico Madrid have turned their attention to potentially signing midfielder Rodrigo Caio.
The 21-year-old appeared set to complete a €12.5m switch from current club Sao Paulo to Los Rojiblancos’ La Liga rivals, Valencia.
However, Valencia yesterday issued a statement on the club’s official website saying that they would not be proceeding any further in negotiations with the player.
“Valencia CF has decided not to proceed with the signing of the player Rodrigo Caio,” the statement reads. “The decision was taken after considering different aspects of the deal.”
Now, AS say that the door is open for Diego Simeone’s side to take the Brazilian to Vicente Calderon.
