Laporta slams lack of Neymar ‘transparency’

Joan Laporta has slammed Barcelona for a lack of transparency in the controversial deal that took Neymar to Camp Nou two years ago.

Monday’s edition of Marca released snapshots of a document signed by former Barca Presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu, in which they agreed to split the costs of a future compensation claim by DIS – the company who previously owned 40 percent of the player’s economic rights – with Santos, providing it was approved by a court of law.

“I hope that the club don’t have to pay any more [than they have already],” he was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

“Things have been done with little transparency.”

Laporta then reiterated his desire to sign Paul Pogba if he was installed as President next month but maintained that he had not yet spoken to the Juventus midfielder.

“We think the key to this possible signing lies with his representative [Mino Raiola],” he added.

“We have very good relationship with him and [prospective sporting director Eric] Abidal knows the player well.

“We’ll discuss [his signing] with Juventus if we’re elected.”
