Rulli to join Valencia, not La Real?

Deportivo Maldonado will reportedly force Geronimo Rulli to join Valencia, despite the goalkeeper holding out for another season at Real Sociedad.

According to AS, the Uruguayan minnows, the legal owners of the 23-year-old’s economic rights, which in turn belong to an investment fund with links to Manchester City, plan to cut a deal with Los Che as the futures of Nicolas Otamendi and Alvaro Negredo also look to be resolved.

Rulli is understood to have expressed his sadness and disgust with the situation as he even put pen to paper for 12 more months at La Real’s Anoeta offices, only for Maldonado to not sign off the contract.

Valencia must pay City €30m for permanent ownership of Negredo by next week, but the newspaper believes sending Otamendi the other way, along with being promised Rulli, would effectively cover the cost.
