Josep Maria Bartomeu claims “we want the party to be on the pitch, not in the director’s box” in an indirect reference to Barcelona rival Joan Laporta.
The 52-year-old is running for a second term as President against another of the club’s former patrons, but he believes his opponent is more concerned about turning the elections campaign into a political rally.
“We want the party to be on the on the pitch, not in the director’s box,” he said at a fundraising event on Thursday.
“In the last five years, we have won 12 trophies, a treble and possess the best [attacking] trident in world football.
“Some people didn’t like [Neymar’s] transfer and all [the controversy] has been created to destabilise the player, team and club.
“The Brazilian company [DIS] decided to launch a complaint via lawyers from Madrid two years after [the transfer].
“There are some people who are annoyed by him, but Neymar plays for us. I’d sign Neymar again if I could.
“The board may sanction some more signings or sales because our planning for next season is under way.
“We should be aiming for stability now, and a new President may rewrite some of that script.”
