Alba: I want to retire at Barca

Jordi Alba has revealed that he wants to see out the remainder of his playing career at Barcelona.

The Catalan native progressed through La Blaugrana’s youth ranks, before being released in 2005, breaking out with Valencia four years later and returning in 2012, since developing into the club’s first-choice left-back.

“I want to stay at Barcelona for many, many years,” he said at a training camp in Japan.

“When I was little, I had to leave [Barca], but I#m finally back where I wanted to be the whole time.

“I learned a lot in these past three years and have also won several trophies.

“Nobody knows what the future holds but, if possible, I’d hang up my boots at Barcelona.

“It’s said that there’s a lot of Barca fans in Japan [ahead of the Club World Cup], but I’d like us to show our collective [qualities] over individual moves [when the time comes].

“I know [Neymar] very well. He’s a very quiet guy but hardworking and a very good person. To me, [his four-match ban] seems over the top.”
