‘Want Bacca? Pay the clause…’

Monchi has invited anyone interested in signing Carlos Bacca to get it over with and pay the Sevilla striker’s release clause.

The sporting director was speaking as Michael Krohn-Dehli was presented as a Sevilla player but touched on other issues when the event was opened to the Press.

“We’ve not had a formal offer,” he confirmed when the subject of Bacca was raised, Marca reports.

“If anyone wants to buy him, they don’t even have to tell us. They can pay his clause with the League [put at €30m by Marca].

“I don’t know what will happen. He’s averaged 25 goals in the last two years. I hope no one does pay the clause.

“He signed a new contract 10 months ago, so he’s happy here.”

Rather than look to sell Bacca, Monchi confirmed the club is interest in adding to their strike force.

“That is what we propose but it doesn’t have to be an out-and-out forward, but someone who gives us options by playing multiple positions.”

For his part, Krohn-Dehli spoke of his excitement at the prospect of playing in the Champions League, and said he would like to be considered a central midfielder.

“The dream is the Champions League. I had a very good season [with Celta Vigo] and I’ve played more in the middle the last two years, which is where I think I’ll play here,” he said.

“Last season was my best, physically. I’ll try for the same this year. I have to work hard every day.”
