Valencia closing in on Rulli?

Valencia believe they are close to confirming the signing of goalkeeper Gero Rulli, who spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad.

It had previously been reported that La Real felt confident Rulli would be with them for a further 12 months, the Basques of the opinion their case was water-tight.

But Super Deporte reports Los Che feel they can nip in and take Rulli to replace Diego Alves, victim of a serious knee injury in the last game of the League season.

Rulli and the investment group that own his contract – although he is technically a Deportivo Maldonado player – reportedly made assurances in May to Real Sociedad.

But Super Deporte say nothing was signed and the fund could send Rulli to a Champions League team from Spain, Italy or England. Valencia are duly in next season’s Champions League.

Super Deporte even suggest Rulli could be sold outright to Manchester City and then loaned to Valencia as the two clubs have a good relationship.
