Former Real Madrid midfielder Angel Di Maria wants to leave Manchester United and is reportedly on Barcelona’s shortlist for summer signings.
Sport reports the Argentina international fits the profile for the kind of player Luis Enrique wants to bolster his squad and Barca have been informed of Di Maria’s great desire to return to La Liga.
Barca’s Presidential elections and Di Maria’s involvement in the Copa America has slowed any move but the situation could develop once both those issues are resolved.
Not only does Di Maria want out of United but manager Louis Van Gaal would be happy to see him go too, as he doesn’t feel Di Maria has adapted to his methods.
United, who spent big to recruit Di Maria from Madrid in the summer of 2014, would want to recoup their expense before Di Maria’s value drops too far.
But Di Maria is said to be keen on Barcelona and a move back to La Liga, while the outcome of Barca’s elections will be known in July and then a final decision on an approach will be made.
