‘Barca don’t need any Madrid players’

Barcelona Presidential candidate Toni Freixa denies any links to Sergio Ramos and says La Blaugrana don’t need any Real Madrid players.

It was reported earlier in June that an unnamed Presidential candidate had spoken to the defender about quitting Santiago Bernabeu for Camp Nou.

Freixa was asked about big-name signings for Barca, including Ramos, and Atletico Madrid’s Koke, said to have an agreement with Josep Maria Bartomeu, when appearing on Onda Cero.

“Nobody has offered Sergio Ramos. Barca don’t need any players from Madrid,” he replied, AS reports.

“If Koke wants to come he will, with or without Bartomeu. I don’t think the election campaign should be centred around names but a management model.

“Eric Abidal? He’s a person I know and admire. He’s a symbol and an emblem. If I win the elections and become President, we’ve a reserved a role for him, certainly.”
