Crisis brewing at Malaga?

A crisis is reportedly brewing at Malaga after it emerged that no money had entered the club since Nasser Al-Thani’s pledge 10 days ago.

The vice-President – son of owner Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Thani – underlined his family’s commitment to the club almost a fortnight ago, but Marca claims that there has been no investment on their part since then.

In stark contrast, three key players in Juanmi, Samu Castillejo and Samu Garcia have been sold in the past week for an accumulated €23m.

The money is understood to have covered routine payments and the first instalment of Nordin Amrabat’s permanent transfer from Galatasaray.

There has been increasing backlash from Malaga fans on social media, with many taking aim at the claim that there was no need to sell their best players.

It now remains to be seen whether there will be more significant departures at La Rosaleda this summer, with the likes of Ignacio Camacho and Sergi Darder having also been linked with moves away.
