Aguero shuts door on Madrid

Sergio Aguero has pledged his loyalty to Manchester City after rubbishing speculation linking him with Real Madrid.

Los Blancos were reportedly willing to splash out €90m on the striker, who is currently representing Argentina at Copa America, but he insists he can fulfil his ambitions at the Etihad Stadium.

“I can’t stop rumours. I can’t stop people writing things,” he was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

“But what I can do is repeat what I have already said, and that is that I’m very happy at Manchester City.

“I have had success over the last four seasons there and I’m hungry for a lot more.

“Of course the Premier League is a big priority and we want to win it back, but it is a big dream to win the Champions League at City as well.

“Each summer, City will add some of the best players in the world to the team.

“That is the way of the clubs who want to win titles. I’m sure that this summer will be the same.

“I would have loved City to sign Leo [Messi]. He is my good friend and the best in the world, but his loyalty is so firm to Barcelona and you have to respect that.”
