Martinez ‘will decide in days’

Atletico Madrid have reportedly renewed their interest in Porto striker Jackson Martinez, who says he will decide on his future in ‘a few days’.

The Colombia international was believed to be close to sealing a transfer to Milan, but has denied that a deal has been completed and opened the door to other possibilities.

Mundo Deportivo report that the player, who is currently in Chile for the Copa America as part of the Colombia squad, has categorically denied that a Milan transfer has been completed.

The outlet also believes that Atleti’s interest could accelerate, as target Carlos Tevez appears close to Boca Juniors and Porto have expressed an interest in unwanted Rojiblanco striker Raul Jimenez.

Speaking from Chile, Martinez revealed he is no closer to the Rossoneri than his Spanish suitors.

“I am as close to Milan as the other clubs,” he said.

“It is a possibility, but there are also options in Spain and England and the decision hasn’t been taken yet.

“What is my preference? I am analysing the situation to see which option is best and will decide in a few days.

“The first thing you should do before saying I’m a Milan player is to ask me if I’m a Milan player yet.

“I’m not a Milan player, it’s a possibility like with other clubs, but it’s a lie that I’m already their player.”
