Verratti Barca’s back-up to Pogba

Barcelona will move for Marco Verratti if they’re frustrated in their attempts to bring Paul Pogba to Camp Nou.

Mundo Deportivo claim Barca sporting director Ariedo Braida and his Juventus counterpart Beppe Marotta have a pact to push Pogba to Catalonia in the summer of 2016.

But the agreement isn’t set in stone and if Juventus get a big offer from Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City, they’d take it.

That would mean Barca having to find an alternative to the France international and, after dismissing Ilkay Gundogan, in part because of his wage demands, Verratti is reportedly the second choice.

Verratti was set for Real Madrid, MD claim, but the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti, his former PSG Coach, put an end to that and paved the way for La Blaugrana.

Braida is a long-time admirer of Verratti and was influential in convincing PSG to sign the ex-Pescara midfielder.

It was reportedly Braida who recommended Verratti to Leonardo, then the PSG sporting director, and Braida is also said to have a good relationship with Verratti’s agent, Donato di Campi.
