Official: Valencia retain Rodrigo

Valencia have confirmed the permanent signing of Rodrigo Moreno from Benfica on a four-year contract for €30m.

The forward scored four goals in 32 appearances during a loan spell at Mestalla last season, and Los Che have now announced on their official website that they own the entirety of his economic rights.

However, the transfer has been in the works for some time as Valencia owner Peter Lim paid Benfica €30m to acquire Rodrigo’s ownership via an investment fund in January 2014 and has now transferred the rights to the club.

“After a year at Valencia, I feel very happy and I’m eager to improve every day,” he told Valencia’s official website.

“Now we have to think about the Champions League playoffs and get into the group stage.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to play in this competition with Benfica before and now I want to do the same with Valencia.”

Rodrigo follows in the footsteps of Andre Gomes, who also made his Valencia loan permanent last week.
