Barca close in on Brazilian duo

Barcelona sporting director Ariedo Braida has confirmed that he will fly to Brazil next week in order to secure deals for Fluminense starlets Gerson and Kenedy.

The pair have long been on La Blaugrana’s agenda, with links to Gerson surfacing as early as February, and the 68-year-old revealed an agreement with the Brasileirao outfit had been in place for some time.

“There’s a Barcelona intermediary who lives in Brazil and has been working on this,” he told Gazzetta TV.

“There’s a purchase option for the pair that was agreed some time ago.”

It is understood that Gerson, 18 [and pictured, centre], would be integrated into the first team sooner as the club are actively seeking midfield reinforcements.

Kenedy, meanwhile, is a 19-year-old forward, who has been compared to Zenit St Petersburg star Hulk in the past.
