Manchester United will only sanction David de Gea’s transfer to Real Madrid if they secure Jan Oblak as his replacement, according to AS.

The newspaper claims contact has already been initiated between the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper and the English giants, with the player reportedly admitting: “If I were to move, there must be an agreement between the two clubs.”

An intermediary has also revealed that Atleti “are asking for a lot of money” to entertain a sale.

If such a move is brokered then De Gea’s long-awaited switch to Los Blancos would finally take place without the potential saga of the Spaniard handing in a transfer request unfolding, as the Sun has claimed.

Oblak endured a difficult start to his €16m switch from Benfica last summer to eventually establish himself as Los Colchoneros’ No 1 following Miguel Angel Moya’s injury.

Madrid, meanwhile, are believed to have had a €24m bid for De Gea rejected by United, who continue to insist that the custodian is not for sale.

In addition, AS understands Oblak was close to joining the capital side last summer, only for the 22-year-old to learn that Iker Casillas would be staying put.

Meanwhile, the publication states Valencia are keen on replacing injured goalkeeper Diego Alves with Madrid’s Keylor Navas.

However, Los Che are not expected to make their move for the Costa Rican, who starred in his country’s 1-0 defeat to Spain on Thursday, until De Gea completes his transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu and Casillas is confirmed as his No 2.
