Bartra critical of Pique jeers

Marc Bartra spoke of his disdain with jeers directed at Gerard Pique in Spain’s 2-1 victory over Costa Rica on Thursday.

The defender was booed throughout his cameo in Leon for his comments about Real Madrid during Barcelona’s treble celebrations last weekend, and his clubmate questioned the motives of those responsible after the game.

“The truth is that I feel good and the Coach’s confidence in me has been crucial. It’s important for me to get an entire runout for 90 minutes,” he was quoted as saying by AS.

“Pique has always defended his club and country. He’s a good guy and didn’t deserve [the jeers], even if he went a little too far [with the Kevin Roldan comment].

“He’s given a lot to the national team since youth level, so it’s only right that this [jeering] stops soon.”
