De Gea to Madrid waiting on details

David De Gea is almost a Real Madrid player with only small details remaining to finalise his departure from Manchester United.

Marca reports De Gea has come to the decision that his future lies away from Old Trafford and at Santiago Bernabeu, having chosen not to sign a new contract with the Premier League club.

United made what is described as a contract offer ‘very difficult to refuse’ from an economic point of view, but De Gea considers his time at United to be at an end.

The deal could be completed in time for De Gea to be presented as a Madrid player shortly after Spain play in Belarus, on June 14.

How Rafa Benitez resolves having De Gea, Iker Casillas and Keylor Navas remains to be seen, Marca pointing to the situation previously when Casillas and Diego Lopez were at the club.

A fee €25m is mooted for the player in the final year of his contract at United, with a further €5m in add-ons to follow.

United paid Atletico Madrid in the region of €20m when signing De Gea as a 19-year-old in 2011.
