Getafe to suffer Elche fate?

Getafe could reportedly suffer the same fate as Elche in becoming the second club to be relegated from La Liga for financial irregularities.

According to Marca, El Geta have until June 30 to settle their debts of €13m with Spanish tax office Hacienda or face demotion to the second tier.

President Angel Torres (pictured) has made it clear that he is looking to attract a benefactor who can purchase a majority stake in the club and cover their debts, but time appears to be of the essence.

Providing an agreement to postpone the payment cannot be reached, Getafe’s place in La Liga would be taken up by freshly-relegated Almeria.

Former Getafe boss Quique Sanchez Flores, who resigned in February, was appointed Watford’s new Coach on Friday.
