Lionel Messi has been voted the Champions League’s greatest ever player in a poll organised by one of the competition’s sponsors.
MasterCard ran the survey and Messi, a three-time Champions League winner, received 27% of the vote, ahead of Zinedine Zidane, a winner in 2002 with Real Madrid and receiver of 12% of the vote.
Cristiano Ronaldo was third, Ronaldo finished fourth and David Beckham fifth, AS note.
