‘Impossible to stop Barca’s trident’

Ex-Juventus and Barcelona forward Michael Laudrup makes Barca favourites for the Champions League thanks to Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

Laudrup, now in charge at Qatar’s Lekhwiya, has told Danish television that Barca have the edge thanks to their greater depth of quality.

“Barca have more resources. Of course, Messi is in a separate category, but if Juve could stop him, then Neymar and Suarez could be decisive,” he said, AS reports.

“It’s impossible to curb the three of them for 90 minutes.”

Laudrup went on to predict a game in which Barca seek to take control, but warned Juve will be fine if that happens.

“I expect a game in which Barca want to take over from the beginning and Juventus will be forced to defend, although Italian teams have never had a problem playing defensively,” Laudrup noted.

When asked who he was supporting Laudrup pleaded neutrality, instead referring to his career as a whole.

“Rather than thinking about which team I identify more with, I prefer to think that I played 11 years for three of the four semi-finalists, Barca, Juve and Real Madrid,” he argued.
