Gaya: Spain call a dream

Jose Luis Gaya has described this past year as ‘a dream’ as a roaring 12 months is capped off with a Spain call-up.

The Valencia left-back was included in Vicente del Bosque’s squad to play Costa Rica and Belarus and was put before the Press.

“All I know is I’m here for these few days and I’ll try to seize my opportunity,” he said, Marca reports.

“It’s not hard being here. Every player would prefer to be here forever than be on holiday.

“Last year I was with the Under-19s so to be with the seniors is a prize. Everything that is happening is a dream and to end the season here is very important to me.

“This week is more to prepare. Next week we’ll talk about Belarus. Now we work to keep fit.”

Gaya’s time in front of reporters also saw him asked about Spain’s women, who are competing at the World Cup in Canada.

“We support everyone. Good luck to them in the World Cup,” he added.
