Callum Douglas, a 16-year-old English striker on the books at Elche, is to have a trial at Premier League Newcastle.
The Daily Mail reports that Douglas will train with the Magpies after catching the eye for Los Franjiverdes’ youth team, for whom he netted 45 goals this season.
Douglas is originally from the North East but moved to Spain with his family. He has also been mentioned in connection with Valencia and Sunderland.
The Mail adds that Douglas is unlikely to be signed by Newcastle until they can confirm a manager, with John Carver’s position unclear after he guided the Tyneside club to safety.
