Valencia target Martinez ‘leaving Porto’

Valencia’s pursuit of Jackson Martinez has received a boost as the striker has revealed he’s been told he can leave Porto.

Martinez is currently with the Colombia national team, preparing for the Copa America, but Marca reports he told the Press that he has been given permission to find a new club.

“I’m focused on Colombia but obviously I’m waiting to know what my future holds, because I’ve already been given permission to leave Porto,” the forward is quoted as saying.

Martinez is believed to be a target for a number of clubs, including Los Che, with Arsenal also lying in wait.

To sign the striker would mean meeting his €35m release clause and Valencia owner Peter Lim was keen on Martinez a year ago, that interest not having diminished.
