Benitez to prioritise Vidal signing?

Real Madrid Coach in-elect Rafa Benitez has reportedly made Arturo Vidal his primary transfer target this summer.

The former Liverpool and Valencia boss is expected to be unveiled as Los Blancos’ new trainer next week, and Marca claims he has already compiled a list of players he would like to sign.

The newspaper explains the 55-year-old’s appointment was motivated by his knowledge of international transfer markets, and he has first-hand experience of the Juventus midfielder from his time at Napoli.

Additionally, Madrid are understood to have abandoned their interest in Paul Pogba, paving the way for an assault on the Chilean, whom Benitez is a fan of for his versatility and aggression.

Madrid have also been linked with Marco Verratti in the last few days, but it remains to be seen whether they will try to sign both him and Vidal.

Sami Khedira, meanwhile, continues to edge closer to Juve, having successfully undergone a medical earlier in the week.
