Jackson Martinez has been named as Atletico Madrid’s alternative to Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto.
It’s been reported that Atletico are eager to sign Vietto this summer but the Yellow Submarine are unwilling to negotiate.
That has led Los Colchoneros to other candidates and Porto’s Martinez is one of them, according to AS, who cite reports from Colombia.
Whereas Villarreal are instead looking to renew Vietto’s contract, raising his release clause, in an effort to keep him, Atletico could tempt Porto with a cash plus player offer.
Raul Jimenez and Oliver Torres, the latter having spent a year under Julen Lopetegui, could be used as bait to sign Martinez, it’s claimed.
