Willy Sagnol has said Bayern Munich Coach Pep Guardiola ‘needs a player like Antoine Griezmann.’
Griezmann has been linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid despite only being at Vicente Calderon for 12 months and Bayern are among the clubs said to be interested.
Sagnol, a former Bayern player and now, according to AS, a transfer advisor at the club, has recommended the France international as a summer target.
“Griezmann fits with both the style of Bayern and Guardiola,” Sagnol said to Sport Bild, AS notes.
“He is a talented player, like Franck Ribery in his early career. He’s more disciplined than Frank was. He’s similar to Roy Makaay.
“He’s a player for the last 25 metres. Guardiola needs someone like him.
“Bayern and I are always in touch. If they want to know something about a French player, they know who to call.”
Chelsea are also said to be interested in the former Real Sociedad player but a fee of €65m, combined with Griezmann’s happiness at his current club and the importance placed on him by Diego Simeone, mean it is unlikely he will be leaving soon.
