Banega: What more could you want?

Ever Banega was delighted after being named man of the match in Sevilla’s Europa League win over Dnipro.

Los Rojiblancos retained the trophy and sealed a place in next season’s Champions League with a 3-2 victory against the Ukrainians.

Banega spoke after the final whistle about the match, reflecting on the development of his career under Unai Emery as much as the game itself.

“We didn’t go out relaxed or confident, they scored a quick goal but we worked to equalise,” he said, AS reports.

“They went on to equalise at half time when we weren’t expecting it. We knew Dnipro would be tough, but we always kept calm. We knew our family had come and we couldn’t leave empty-handed.

“You always work for the team. I’ve got this [man of the match] award and I appreciate it. We have a great Coach who brings out the best in the players, both those who play and those who don’t.

“I didn’t start playing here but Emery encouraged me to work, I did my best and we won the Europa League and we enter direct into the Champions League. What more could you want?

“I had the opportunity to play in Argentina for six months and return to Valencia but I came here because they had Emery as a Coach and Emery wanted me to come to Sevilla.

“It became a reality thanks to him and Monchi gave me a great opportunity and I didn’t hesitate.”
