Sevilla trio in Spain squad

Vicente Del Bosque has named Sevilla trio Sergio Rico, Aleix Vidal and Vitolo in the Spain squad to play Costa Rica and Belarus.

There’s no place for Chelsea striker Diego Costa, who only recently returned action, while Manchester United pair Juan Mata and Ander Herrera also miss out.

It had been suggested Del Bosque could be without the players whose season has extended past the League campaign, with Barcelona having a number of internationals in the Champions League final, but the champions are well represented.

There’s no return for Thiago Alcantara, who it was suggested in the morning Press could be included after a lengthy injury absence.

Europa League finalists Sevilla have goalkeeper Rico and wingers Vidal and Vitolo included after a campaign which saw Unai Emery’s team finish fifth in the League and reach a second consecutive European final.

Jose Gaya, Juanmi, Jonny Castro, Saul Niguez and Ruben Duarte will also take part in training with La Roja.

Spain first play a friendly with Costa Rica, on June 11, and three days later travel to Borisov for a Euro 2016 qualifier.

Spain squad in full:

Casillas, De Gea, Rico, Juanfran, Carvajal, Pique, Bartra, Ramos, Alba, Bernat, Busquets, San Jose, Koke, Nolito, Cazorla, Iniesta, Fabregas, Isco, Vidal, Silva, Morata, Alcacer, Vitolo, Pedro.
