Bayern, Chelsea chasing Griezmann

Atletico Madrid are braced for interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich in Antoine Griezmann and don’t intend to sell.

Griezmann moved to Atletico last summer, leaving Real Sociedad, and has become one of Diego Simeone’s most important players.

Indeed, AS reports Griezmann is part of a group of players Atleti don’t feel they can afford to lose, along with Jan Oblak, Diego Godin, Jose Gimenez and Koke.

There is a second group, containing Juanfran, Tiago Mendes, Raul Garcia and Arda Turan that is also important to the Coach, but less so than the first selection.

Griezmann has a release clause of €65m in his contract and Bayern are thought to have watched the France international during Atletico’s Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern could afford Griezmann’s price tag but Atletico aren’t interested in speaking to Pep Guardiola’s team and could improve Griezmann’s contract to reinforce their position.

Chelsea are also understood to be on the horizon and they too would have little problem completing the deal financially.

Griezmann is though said to be happy in Madrid, even though he could double his salary with a move to the Bundesliga or the Premier League.

He is also grateful to Simeone for the positional change that took him from a winger when with La Real to a central attacker, feeling he has played his best football under Cholo.
