Alves: Barca don’t respect me

Dani Alves has accused Barcelona of not valuing him in contract negotiations and launched a scathing attack on the Spanish media.

Speaking at a Press conference on Monday, in which he also confirmed that he would not make a decision until after the Champions League final, the expiring right-back did not hold back in expressing his contempt with how his future had been played out in public.

“I’m here because I’ve been disrespected and a lot of rubbish has been written about me,” he said.

“I want to do my talking on the pitch because then everyone can make their own minds up [about my commitment].

“Unfortunately, [people] are too stupid to do that and I’ve reached my limit. I’m not here to answer anything but to defend myself.

“I’m not thinking about money but only to be valued for what I do, and I don’t think the club value me in the way I deserve.

“I’ll happily leave before they kick me out, but what I won’t accept are [accusations of being a mercenary] because I’ve always worked hard for this club, including this season.

“For now I’ll continue to give 200 percent to the team, but I have both feet and my head out of the club.

“[On whether Paris Saint-Germain are an option], no they’re not.

“I haven’t spoken to [Luis Enrique] about my future. He has his own things to take care of. I don’t want him to influence my decisions or issues.

“I can’t answer any questions from Marca, it’s [a] rubbish [newspaper]. I’m sorry for [their journalists].”
