Moyes on ‘satisfactory’ season

David Moyes has given his debut season at Real Sociedad a “satisfactory” rating ahead of Saturday’s end-of-term trip to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.

The former Everton and Manchester United manager arrived in San Sebastian last November, with the mission objective of pulling La Real out of the relegation zone, and he duly delivered with a 12th-placed finish.

“It’s been a satisfactory season,” he said at a Press conference.

“When I arrived, the team were in decline. The situation was difficult and we didn’t sign any players in January. We did it all with the squad we already had.

“[We need reinforcements] in order to fight for the higher positions. [The renewal of Gero Rulli’s loan] is being negotiated and we hope to confirm it soon.

“[Xabi Prieto will undergo ankle surgery] to remove a splinter, so you can expect him, like David Zurutuza, to be ready for the start of pre-season.

“All matches have a special meaning and if you’re a professional, your duty is to always play your best and give 100 percent.”
