Pep declines Barca invitation

Pep Guardiola has made it clear that he will not accept Barcelona’s invitation to the Champions League final in Berlin.

The Bayern Munich boss remains a revered figure in Catalonia, three years on from his departure, but he declined the opportunity to reacquaint himself with his former employers at the Olympiastadion on June 7 out of respect for the Bundesliga holders.

“In Germany, people talk too much. They should have a little more respect for the German champions and their players,” the Coach said at a Press conference after his side were criticised by the German media for losing five of their last six matches.

“We did our job, anything else isn’t our problem. When you have only 13 or 14 players available and have [personnel] problems, you can’t always play at full intensity.

“I won’t accept [Barca’s] invitation [to the Champions League final], I’ll stay here. I want our fans to celebrate our [League] title with us.”
