Barca plan Xavi tribute

Barcelona are planning a special send-off for midfielder Xavi Hernandez when he plays his last La Liga game for the club on Saturday.

The 35-year-old is due to hold a Press conference on Thursday, when he is expected to confirm his departure to Qatari club Al Sadd after being at Barca from the age of 11, and the Catalans are working on a tribute to thank him for his years at the club.

According to AS, Barca have made a request to the Spanish Football Federation for the League trophy to be presented to Xavi before the game with Deportivo la Coruna, a ceremony that usually takes place at the first game of the following season, and it is expected to be granted.

The Blaugrana are understood to have been impressed at the way in which Liverpool said goodbye to captain Steven Gerrard at Anfield last weekend and would like Xavi to experience something similar in front of the Barcelona fans.
