Moyes plays down Liverpool bid

Real Sociedad boss David Moyes has attempted to play down speculation linking Liverpool with a bid for defender Inigo Martinez.

Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers had the 23-year-old, a product of La Real’s youth academy, watched in the Basques’ recent 2-0 defeat to Barcelona and is reportedly contemplating a summer bid in an attempt to bolster his defensive options.

However, former Everton and Manchester United manager Moyes insists the player, who has represented Spain once at international level, is going nowhere.

“Do you think I would want to sell him to Liverpool? We’ve not had any contact and it’s pure speculation,” the Scot told talkSPORT.
