Enrique ‘not concerned’ about future

Luis Enrique has downplayed questions marks over his Barcelona future after sealing the title in his debut season.

Enrique was hired last summer to replace Tata Martino after Barca ended the campaign empty-handed and now stands two games from a treble, with the Copa del Rey and Champions League finals to come.

“10 months ago I started here with a lot of changes. The club came from not winning anything. We knew there was a transition and we tried to do it the best way possible,” he said, AS reports, after the title-winning victory against Atletico Madrid.

“We still have two titles to play for but we have in our pocket the consistency.

“I haven’t had to prove myself. If you do poorly, they kick you out. If you’re normal or good, you’re criticised. I’m not worried about the future.

“I don’t know if we’re starting another cycle. I would like it if we are. We have to prove we’re worthy of other trophies.

“We have two important games to play and we have to show we’re better than our rivals.

“I don’t mind how we celebrate the League. The club will decide. We’ll have a few days rest and then prepare for the Copa.

“The Copa is very special because we’re playing a final at Camp Nou, the most beautiful stadium in the world. The double would be very interesting, a wonderful thing.

“The season isn’t over for Claudio Bravo or anybody. Everyone is important. We have to enjoy everything. The season isn’t just about being a starter. He’s been outstanding.

“Pedro? He’s had a sensational season. He’s always trained.”
