Report: Ancelotti agrees City deal

Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly signed a pre-contract with Manchester City ahead of his expected departure from Real Madrid this summer.

According to Sport Mediaset, the Italian agreed a non-binding deal with the recently-dethroned English champions, who look set to dispense of Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season, before an April 30 deadline.

Following months of speculation, he is now ready to leave on his own accord, having decided the Madrid hierarchy’s refusal to publicly back him in light of Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final exit to be his final straw.

Sergio Ramos and Marcelo both expressed their desire to continue working under Ancelotti after the 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, but neither PR guru Emilio Butragueno nor President Florentino Perez followed suit.

Pep Guardiola became City’s prime candidate when speculation that he could leave Bayern Munich arose, but the Premier League giants have switched their attentions back to the 55-year-old after being knocked back by the former Barcelona boss.
