Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta has revealed that the Old Lady “will try” to revoke Real Madrid’s buyback clauses in Alvaro Morata’s contract.
Despite the striker joining the Old Lady last year in a €20m deal on a five-year contract, Los Blancos can repurchase him for €30m this summer or €35m at the end of next season.
However, he recently scored the goals to eliminate his former club from the Champions League semi-finals, and Juve are now keen to renegotiate their agreement with Madrid.
“Unfortunately we had to include [the clauses in Morata’s contract],” Marotta told reporters.
“We have a good relationship with Madrid and the player has already said that he wants to stay with us, so we’ll try to get the clauses removed.”
Morata has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay at Juve over the course of his spell in Turin, but some outlets have speculated that his refusal to celebrate either of his strikes against Madrid signified that he had yet to make a decision on his future.
