Bale: ‘Madrid will be back stronger’

Gareth Bale admitted that Alvaro Morata’s equaliser for Juventus against Real Madrid had dented his team’s confidence.

The former Madrid striker struck on 57 minutes to earn the Italians a 1-1 draw and a subsequent 3-2 aggregate victory in the Champions League semi-final second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Bale believes Madrid will come back even stronger next year.

“The goal dented our confidence but we’ll learn from it and be even better next season,” the Welshman told Sky Sports.

“What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger. We wanted to be in the Champions League final and gave ourselves a chance of winning, but it wasn’t to be.

“This year I’ve maybe not scored as many important goals as I’d have like but my general play has been good.

“My finishing is something to work on,” he admitted.
