‘Pedro deserves more minutes’

Luis Enrique admitted Pedro Rodriguez should get more playing time after he scored a special goal in Barcelona’s win over Real Sociedad.

Pedro came off the bench to score Barca’s second goal with five minutes to play, an overhead kick that flew past Geronimo Rulli.

Barca initially struggled to find a way past the goalkeeper, the game goalless at half time, and Enrique also noted he expected the Basques to prove hard to beat.

“We knew how difficult the game would be. We played a first half of intensity and it was getting complicated,” he said, AS reports.

“Rulli played a great game in the first half but in the second, fatigue arrived. La Real are a great team and we knew it would be very difficult.

“Physically the team is very good. We have players who are refreshed and have been very good.

“About Pedro I can only say marvellous things. He is a top class player. He’s playing less than he deserves this year. He always delivers, he’s a complete professional and a guarantee, a pleasure to have here. His goal was tremendous, the action of a player on a different level.

“I saw Bayern Munich lost. They played 70 minutes with 10 men. We’ve never thought the game is done. We’ll have to defend far from our goal.”
