Luis Rubiales has confirmed that the AFE is seeking crisis talks with the LFP and RFEF in a bid to avert strike action on May 16.
All competitions in Spain will be suspended indefinitely as of next week due to a disagreement regarding the Royal Decree, which regulated the joint-selling of TV rights in football, leaving the remaining two rounds of La Liga and Copa del Rey final in disarray.
“[The Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE)] called the Professional Football League (LFP) and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) about a conciliation,” the AFE President told Radiogaceta Sports.
“We believe we can reach an agreement if we’re all heard and there’s a consensual agreement.
“[The Royal Decree] harms the players’ labour rights. It hurts the collective a lot.
“It’s not just about money. A Royal Decree was passed to become the law. What it can’t be is a guarantee for every Spaniard to pull over from one side to the other.
"We’ve outstretched the hand of dialogue, but we had to defend ourselves because we weren’t consulted over issues that affect us.”
