Enrique: This is Barca’s moment

Luis Enrique has urged his Barcelona players to savour their ‘sweetest’ moment of the season when they host Real Sociedad in La Liga on Saturday.

La Blaugrana head into Week 36 on the back of a 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals and two points clear of Real Madrid atop the League standings with only three matches remaining.

“We know how difficult it’ll be to win on Saturday and that a victory will take us nearer to the title,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“I’m sure we have to win our next game. Then we’ll see if we need to win our remaining matches in order to win the League. Most teams still have something to play for.

“It’s true that the games after an intense one in the Champions League can be dangerous, but being near the end of the season makes this match extremely importance to us.

“The key to winning the League title is getting three more points. To score goals and not concede any is important. We need everything to attack and defend.

“Given the season is almost over, it’s logical that the team feel they’re close to achieving their objectivess, so the players are more motivated.

“It’s the sweetest moment of the season, but there’s still the difficulty of meeting the objectives we’re fighting towards.

“When the end of the season comes, we’ll assess whether we were able to achieve our objectives.

“We’re having a great season. The numbers say so, but there’s a team like Real Madrid doing the same as us.

“[La Liga] is one of the most contested Leagues [in the world] and this makes it more exciting and more motivational. We’re fortunate that [the title] is in our hands.

“Five games, or six if we’re beat Bayern [Munich], remain. They’ll be six finals, so we need to raise our game.

“This season we’ve moved forward together, and I appreciate everything the team have done.

“I don’t think it’ll reach the point of not fulfilling games. Dialogue [between the AFE, RFEF and LFP] must prevail.

“Each party has its own prerogative, but we must consider what the protagonists think – the players.

“We hope the season ends when it’s supposed to.”
