Messi hails Barca display

Lionel Messi hailed Barcelona’s performance in the 3-0 Champions League win over Bayern Munich as a great result.

Messi scored twice in the second half and also provided an assist for Neymar to seal the victory late on, but warned the tie is still not over and it will be tough in Germany next week.

“We were lucky enough to score the first goal and then the other came in quick succession,” Marca quotes the Argentine as saying.

“We’ve come away with a great result ahead of the second leg, which is just what we wanted.

“Germany will be a difficult place to go. We’ve got the result but now we must go there and can’t afford to drop our guard.”

Asked about his euphoric celebration after scoring his first goal, Messi assured there had been nothing special in it.

“It was just how happy I felt about the goal and what it meant. We hadn’t been able to score until then and it was important to the tie,” he explained.
