Muller: ‘Bayern’s chances are small’

Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller feels his team’s chances of overcoming a 3-0 deficit against Barcelona are “small”.

The Bavarians were treated to a Lionel Messi masterclass at the Camp Nou in the Champions League semi-final first leg on Wednesday, after which German international Muller, who was replaced by Mario Gotze in the second half, acknowledged his team’s chances of making the final in Berlin are slim.

“We defended well for a long time against a team with some very quick players,” Muller told reporters.

“In the first half we had some luck and needed [goalkeeper] Manuel [Neuer] twice, but after the break we felt good.

“We had some great chances but it’s not easy to come and play here. We certainly didn’t feel we were going to lose 3-0.

“However, we’ve arrived at that situation and now we must be united and not look for scapegoats.

“Our chances are small and it would be sensational if we did it, but you can be sure we’ll be giving everything until the final whistle at the Allianz Arena,” he declared.
