Bale’s agent hits back at CL critics

Gareth Bale’s agent has responded to critics of the Welshman’s performance in Real Madrid’s 2-1 Champions League defeat to Juventus.

Bale was singled out in particular by former Manchester United teammates and now ITV pundits Roy Keane and Paul Scholes, who were analysing the game for the network.

Keane observed that Real Madrid “are playing with 10 men because Gareth Bale did not show up tonight”, while Scholes was of the opinion that “Bale never once tried to take his man on”.

Their comments have upset the player’s representative, Jonathan Barnett, who sprung to the 25-year-old’s defence.

“Gareth only pays attention to relevant comments. He’s with the biggest club in the world, playing with the best players, and is fine,” Barnett told BBC Sport.

“Why should we pay attention to irrelevant criticism from people who have no idea what they are talking about and failed as a Coach?

“Bale is 100 per cent focused on Madrid,” he maintained.
