Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan believes Dani Carvajal should have been sent off in Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Juventus.
Carvajal had already received one yellow card when he brought down Carlos Tevez in the box to concede a penalty, yet despite protests from Juve players he was not even booked by referee Martin Atkinson.
However, Turan feels that different standards were applied after the Turkey international received his marching orders in Atleti’s Champions League quarter-final defeat to Madrid.
“I was shown a second yellow card. With Carvajal is the referee applying the same rules?” he asked on his official Twitter account.
In the game at the Santiago Bernabeu, Turan committed a foul similar to that of Carvajal’s before a bad foul on Sergio Ramos in the 76th minute saw him dismissed by referee Felix Brych.
